We know how heroic our best friends are so it is especially heartwarming to hear that we sometimes return the favor. It seems that during the downpour that poured down on Los Angeles last week, Vernon, a German Shepherd was caught up in the hectic evacuations and was trapped on a piece of driftwood in a river. The poor pooch was very frightened but firefighter Joe St. Georges and helicopter pilot Scott Bowman helped airlift him to safety and delivered him to a local shelter to be treated.
