"My new babies!"

Media megastar Oprah Winfrey celebrated her 56th birthday today. What do you get a woman who has everything and can probably buy herself whatever she wanted? Well, a puppy of course! But the birthday god didn’t just give Ms. Winfrey one cute puppy but TWO cute PUPPIES. SUNNY and LAUREN, who are rescues from PAWS Rescue in Chicago, made their television debut today on the Oprah Show. We at First Dog Watch would like to wish Ms. Winfrey a happy birthday and say Ruff! Ruff! for getting her puppies from a rescue organization

On the Oprah show yesterday, August 6, 2009, they had a show about “Amazing Animals” and in one of the segments, they talked about the program “Puppies Behind Bars“, where inmates help to train dogs to be “companion dogs” for veterans who come back from war in Afghanistan and Iraq with debilitating trauma.

Good Doggies!

First Dog watch was so moved as we know how “transformative” a dog’s love can be for their owners and are so happy that they are allowed to bring some joy to others who would not normally have the opportunity to experience it. One inmate even said that before “…(he) had no regards for other people. It was always me, me, me, me.”

Dogs Rule!

First Dog Bo is probably the most famous PORTUGUESE WATER DOG but we found some cuties that may give our boy a run for his money so let the cuteness begin!
